Sleep…Are YOU Getting Any?

Lets face it. One of the biggest issues among high schoolers is the amount of sleep they get every night. Out of ten students in The Bradford, only two got over eight hours of sleep. Students stay up long hours into the night, working on papers, studying for tests, or even just surfing Facebook or Youtube.

Personally, I think this is a major issue. Lately I too have been struggling to keep up with work, but I still try to get to bed by 10:30, even if my homework is not done. I just finish it in the morning.

Many students claim they feel fine after four or five hours of sleep, but even a cup of coffee cannot eliminate the long term affects that result. After viewing this link on the importance of sleep, consider how long you stay up every night.

Consider this scenario: If you have a test tomorrow, would it be more efficient to study until midnight, or go to sleep at 10:00? This is kind of like saying, would it be more efficient to fall asleep while taking your test, or actually get a good grade? Think about it.

I feel sleep is really important also, at least for me. I try to never stay up past 11, and if my work is not finished, I make an attempt to finish it in the morning. When it is not realistic that I will complete my work before the start of school the next morning, I stay up past 11. For example, during the junior thesis crunch week, there was one night where I got over 5 hours of sleep, and I even went to bed at 4:30 on the final night of work.
